Why JPASD Education Center?

Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District has served the people of Jackson Parish for over 20 years. Our state-of-the-art Education Center offers a relaxed classroom setting for instruction and areas dedicated to developing practical skills. The instructors have combined experience in EMS of over 50 years. Additionally, many JPASD EMS professionals offer advice and guidance to students as the class progresses and share their experiences to add real world examples to the lecture material. ​

What is an Emergency Medical Technician?

According to the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, "Emergency Medical Technicians provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. Emergency Medical Technicians are a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system."

Registration Information

​For early EMR/EMT course registration, please use the Information Request Form to request a registration packet prior to first day of class. 

Last day to register for a course is the first day of class for that course. 

EMR Class cost is $100 for Jackson Parish residents - $228 for Non residents

EMT Class cost is $1400 - Registration deposit is $300. 

AEMT Class cost is $2000 - Registration deposit is $400

Students need a laptop computer or tablet for EMT course work. Chrome books and cell phones are not sufficient for course needs.
